Rebuilding the Pony Express

Help us Rebuild

On September 27, 2020 The Pony Express Ranch was reduced to ashes as a result of the  catastrophic effects of the Glass Fire. We are beyond devastated at the loss of our ranch, but incredibly grateful that all of our horses survived this horrific firestorm. Rebuilding the Pony Express needs your help, with emergency funds needed to help bring our horses home.

Why Donate?

The Pony Express is a community-based organization dedicated to mentoring kids and committed to creating life skill/leadership learning opportunities utilizing horses as teachers, healers, and agents of change. We are a small nonprofit striving to make a big difference. For the past four decades we have been doing just that.
Please continue to support the much-needed efforts of our organization on behalf of the amazing kids in our community and help us now with Rebuilding the Pony Express.

“My parents wanted me to talk to a therapist. I like talking to my horse. She listens, she doesn’t judge me, and I trust her more than I trust most people.”

“I was adopted and struggle with a lot of abandonment issues. It has always been hard for me to trust. The horse that I worked with was rescued. She didn’t trust people either. We learned to trust each other. For me that was a first. I think it was a first for my horse too.”

“Being around the horses has taught me how to be more calm. I used to have a lot of anxiety that would keep me from doing things, especially trying new things. Now when I’m feeling anxious, I just breath and think about how I need to act when I’m around the horses, even when there are no horses around.”
- 17 year old boy
